Church Planting FAQ

A church plant is a new community of Christians started by people who believe God is calling them to bring the hope of Jesus to a their community.

Like a family or neighborhood, every church starts small and grows over time. It begins with people gathering around Jesus, building relationships, and serving their community together.

New starts meet new people.
Different approaches reach different people.
More churches reach more people.

As new communities grow, new churches create new opportunities for people to encounter Jesus, build meaningful relationships, and find a place to belong. Our prayer is that Oikos will not only become a healthy church family, but one that helps start new churches so even more people can experience the hope of Jesus.

Because relationships matter, we are planting Oikos by starting with meaningful community rather than Sunday Morning Worship.

We are beginning with Life Groups—small communities where people can build friendships, study God's Word, pray together, and share life with one another. These groups are the foundation of our church plant because we believe healthy churches are built on healthy relationships.

As these communities grow, they will come together as one Launch Team—a group of people committed to living out our mission, vision, and values as we prepare to launch weekly worship gatherings in the Willis area.

Our Process: Relationships → Life Groups → Launch Team → Public Launch → Growing Family

The answer is: all over our community.

Our hope is not simply to create a place where people come to us, but to become a people who go into the places God has already placed us. While we continue to look toward a future central gathering space, we believe God has given us a unique opportunity to be a church that is present throughout Willis and the surrounding area.

Right now, our Life Groups meet in homes, businesses, and community spaces throughout Willis and Conroe. Wherever we gather, our goal remains the same: to build genuine relationships, grow together in Jesus, and bring hope to our neighbors.

Our goal is for Oikos Church to become a healthy, self-sustaining church family within four years. Rather than focusing only on a launch date, we follow phase-lines—spiritual, relational, and organizational milestones that help us grow in a healthy way.

Our ultimate goal is not just to become an established church, but to become a church that plants churches and helps more people discover Jesus.

Phase 1: With God. - Launch Life Groups

Phase 2: With Each Other. - Create a launch team and launch public worship.

Phase 3: With Our Neighbor - Intentionally work in our community through everyday mission and service.

Phase 4: Life Together - Establish all three habits and charter as an independent congregation.

Oikos Church is part of The Harvest Partnership, a church planting network committed to starting healthy, gospel-centered churches. Through this partnership, Oikos received seed funding to call a church planter and cover his salary and benefits during our first four years.

Because of this support, every donation, gift, and grant received by Oikos goes directly toward ministry, outreach, discipleship, and building a healthy, self-sustaining church family.

We believe God's mission is accomplished through the generosity, prayers, and participation of His people—and we would love for you to be part of what God is doing through Oikos.
