What We Believe
At Oikos Church, we believe that Christianity isn't simply about adopting a set of beliefs—it's about knowing the God who created you, loves you, and invites you into life with Him.
Our beliefs shape everything we do, from how we worship and how we serve our neighbors, to how we live our every day lives. No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, you are always welcome to explore Jesus with us!
-
We believe there is one God who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
God lovingly created the world. The Father sent the Son, Jesus Christ, to save and redeem it. The Holy Spirit brings people to faith by opening their eyes to who Jesus is and continues to transform us into his likeness. God is perfectly holy, completely loving, and faithfully present with His people.
-
We believe the Bible is God's Word. Through the Scriptures, God tells the redemptive story of everything where He reveals who He is, who we are, and His plan to rescue the world through Jesus Christ. The Bible is trustworthy, true, and our final authority for faith and life. We want to be a church that doesn't simply read God's Word—we want God's Word to shape us.
-
Every person is created in the image of God and deeply loved by Him.
At the same time, every one of us has sinned. We have all turned away from God, broken His good design, and cannot restore ourselves. Sin has consequences, ultimately death.
The good news is that God didn't leave us there. Instead, He came looking for us.
-
We believe Jesus is the center of everything.
Jesus is fully God and fully man. He lived the perfect life we could never live, paid our price and died on the cross for our sins, and rose bodily from the grave. Through His death and resurrection, God has accomplished everything necessary for our salvation from sin, death, and the Devil.
The good news of Christianity is not that we can earn God's love by trying harder or becoming better people. Rather, Salvation is a gift of God’s grace, freely given to all who have faith in Jesus. Through Him we receive forgiveness for every sin, resurrection over death, and the promise of eternal life in His family and kingdom—not because of what we've done, but because of what He has done for us.
Because Jesus is alive, hope and healing is real, forgiveness is available, and anyone can begin a new life with Him today.
-
We believe that right now, Jesus is seated on the throne in Heaven as Lord over all creation. 40 days after His resurrection, Jesus ascended back into Heaven with a promise to return someday.
When He comes again, He will make all things new, raise the dead, judge the living and the dead, and bring His Kingdom to its fullness. On that day, Satan, his followers, evil, suffering, sin, and death will finally be defeated and destroyed forever.
The return of Jesus is both a promise and an invitation. It reminds us that history is moving toward God's good purpose and calls each of us to place our trust in Christ today. Our confidence for that day is not found in our own goodness, but in the saving work of Jesus, who has died and risen for us.
Because of His promise, we live with hope, eager for the day when we will dwell with God forever in a new creation where righteousness, peace, and joy will never end.
-
The Church is not a building or an event—it's a family.
God gathers people from every background to follow Jesus together. We worship together, pray together, learn God's Word together, care for one another, and join God's mission in the world.
We believe life with Jesus was never meant to be lived alone.
-
We believe Baptism is one of God's gracious gifts to His people.
In Baptism, God joins us to Jesus' death and resurrection, forgives our sins, gives the gift of the Holy Spirit, and welcomes us into His family. Baptism is not primarily about what we do for God, but about what God does for us through His promise.
Whether someone is baptized as an infant or as an adult, Baptism is a lasting reminder that our identity is found in Christ and that His promises are faithful.
-
We believe the Lord's Supper is another precious gift Jesus has given His Church.
In Communion, Jesus’ body and blood is present “in, with, and under” the bread and wine, for the forgiveness of sins. As we receive this meal in faith, He strengthens us with His grace, deepens our unity with His people, and reminds us that His sacrifice is sufficient for us.
The Lord's Supper isn't merely a symbol or a tradition—it's a gift through which Jesus continues to come to His people with His promises.
-
Following Jesus changes us.
We believe good works are the fruit of faith, not the cause of our salvation. Because we have already received God's grace through Jesus, we are freed to love and serve others.
The Holy Spirit shapes us to become more like Christ, producing lives marked by love, compassion, generosity, forgiveness, and humility. We don't do good works to earn God's love—we do them because we have already received it and desire to reflect His love to the world around us.
-
God is going to do his work with or without us, but how amazing is it that He invites His people to participate in that mission?
Mission isn't something reserved for pastors or missionaries. Every follower of Jesus is called to make disciples, love their neighbors, serve their communities, and share the good news of God's grace.
We don't simply gather on Sundays; we are sent every day to bring Jesus to people in our homes, workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods, inviting others into the life He freely offers.
