Life Together Newsletter - 7/10/26

Life Together Newsletter

New starts reach new people. As we seek to follow Jesus' lead in starting something new here in the Willis, TX area, we are excited for what HE has in store for this place. Our mission is "Bringing Jesus to people" and we do that by living "Life Together: With God. With Each Other. And With Our Neighbor." This newsletter is a way for us to live life together and stay up to date on news, prayer requests, planting updates, and more! Thank you for being a part of our new community here, even those who are supporting us from afar. God is going to do his work! What an amazing opportunity and invitation we have to join him in his mission. God's PEACE!

- Pastor Daniel Brummet

A Word from the Word

As His anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him. - 1 John 2:27

"Truth is when what we say matches reality." This is a quote out of Pastor Dan's sermon from this weekend. In a culture that pushes the idea "Live your truth," there is a temptation to think we have the power to redefine reality instead of receive it. But God's truth does not come from inside of us—it comes from outside of us, from the Creator who made us and knows all things perfectly. "God gave you feelings to experience reality, not redefine it," so when your emotions shift, you experience new things, and hear new ideas anchor yourself not in your heart but in Christ, who is the Truth and whose promises never change.

We encourage you to listen to the full sermon here:

Our Timeline:

Phase 1: With God - Who has God placed here? What is God doing? Where is God opening doors? How can we get people around God's word and in community with one another?

We are here! The next step is to begin on large group gatherings this summer and organizing ourselves moving int the fall!

Phase 2: With Each Other - Bring Life Groups together as one big church and start public worship.

Phase 3: With Our Neighbor - Emphasize service and outreach to our surrounding community.

Phase 4: Put all three together and charter as an independent congregation.

Church Plant Updates

  • PRAYER! We held our second prayer gathering! Twenty people. One room. One God.

Together we read God's Word, spent time in quiet meditation, and prayed as the Holy Spirit guided us to the needs and people He placed on our hearts. Check out the "Prayer Requests" section for the list of prayers that came out of our time together. We'd love for you to join us in lifting these up to the Lord.

  • BIG NEWS! You will notice in the "Worship Schedule" section a lot of TBD's. This is because Pastor Dan is winding down and ending his guest preaching schedule with our Harvest Partnership churches. Although we have loved building relationships within the Harvest Partnership, it is time to shift our efforts towards establishing and organizing our church plant. This fall, we will be gathering on Sundays as Oikos Church for Prayer, Bible Study, Relationship Building, Missionary Pathway, and more as we discuss and learn what it means to plant a church, who are we as Oikos Church, how do we live out our mission, vision, and values, and seek to establish ourselves. We will miss visiting our partner churches, but this is an exciting next step!

  • WE HAVE A NEED! We are looking for a space for our church to gather in starting in August. We need a place where we can have large group gatherings of 50-100 people, as well as the ability to break out into small groups without it being too noisy. It also needs to be family friendly and conducive for little kids. If you have any recommendations or connections, please email Pastor Dan at pastor.dbrummet@gmail.com

  • STAY TUNED! Engaging Truth is a local radio show and podcast hosted by many of our local pastors. A special two part interview will be dropping this weekend (July 12) and next (July 19) featuring Pastor Dan talking about Oikos Church, seeing people with compassion, and the power of prayer in mission. We will share the link and post it to our Facebook page.

  • NEW GROUPS! We have a few new Life Groups we are trying to pull together. If you are interested in joining, let Pastor Dan know!

    • 1-2 Adult Life Groups

    • Conroe Airport (CXO) Life Group

Mission Moments

Discipleship is a slow process. Relationships take time to build. However, one of our goals was to launch Life Groups in public spaces around our community to be a light and engage with our neighbors. We have finally hit a point where employees at these businesses know who we are, why we are there, are opening up about their lives and asking for prayer requests. Showing up and meeting the people in the places we live, work, learn, and play is what it means to be an everyday missionary, and we are starting to see new people enter the conversation around Jesus and faith!

Currently we have 3 groups meeting at 3 different restaurants:

1) Tropical Smoothie Cafe - Willis, TX

2) Guadalaharrys Bar and Grill - Conroe, TX

3) B52 Brewery - Conroe, TX

Prayer Requests

(Be sure to join our prayer group on the Echo Prayer App where you can access our prayer list and submit your own prayer requests)

Plant with Us

Looking for ways to be involved? In the Harvest Partnership, we believe in openhanded generosity using the 5 capitals. Here are 5 ways you can support us:

  1. Spiritual - Be a Prayer Warrior! Every successful discipleship movement begins in prayer as we run back to the ONE who sends us all and works faith through the Holy Spirit.

  2. Relational - Be a Bridge Builder! We want to connect with people in this area but it's not easy to do that alone. If you know of someone looking for a church, in need of spiritual care, or simply someone who has questions about faith - connect them to our church!

  3. Physical - Join us in worship! Help us start a life group! Be a part of our church plant. Sign Up here:

  4. Intellectual - If you have information or knowledge that would be beneficial for our church plant - Please share!

  5. Financial - If you or your church feels led to give and support our mission, we would be incredibly blessed. All gifts to the church plant go towards ministry costs for the first 4 years (Hospitality, Events, Equipment, Rental Space, etc.). As we get the ball rolling, the costs are going to go up and with a minimal donor base to begin with, we could use all the help we can get. You can give here through Resurrection Lutheran Church by choosing the "Willis Church Plant" fund option:
