Our Mission and Vision
A Gathering and Going Church
Take a moment. Breathe in; Breathe out.
Do it again. Breathe in; Breathe out.
Now, what would happen if you held your breath and never breathed back out… You would pass out and die right?
What about if you breathed out but never breathed back in? Same thing! You’d pass out and die.
The church is the same way. If Christians just hunker down within our own walls and never leave, or Christians are completely isolated and never see each other… the church would die! Or at least be unhealthy…
When Jesus appeared to his disciples on the day He resurrected from the dead, He breathed the Holy Spirit into them, and said, “Go and carry my grace into the world.”
The Church is like a set of lungs that breathes life into the world. It breathes in. It breathes out.
We GATHER and we GO!
We GATHER together for worship, bible study, meals, prayer, comfort, care, celebration, and in everyday life.
We GO and bring Jesus and the good news of the gospel to the people around us in our community.
The church breathes in. The church breathes out. And with every breath, God helps His family take a deeper breath by breathing His life into more people through His people.
Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven…”
John 20:21-23
Our Mission
Bringing Jesus to People.
“As you are going, make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20
Jesus sent His disciples to make more disciples as they were going about their lives. It’s not about going to church, but BEING the church. Therefore, we live as the hands and feet of Jesus and bring him to the people in our local community.
Our Vision
Life Together: With God. With Each Other. With Our Neighbor.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer…All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God. -Acts 2:42, 44-47
Our vision is to be a breath of fresh air - offering a community of healing for the hurting, a home for the disconnected, the warmth of a genuine friend, and most of all the refreshing energy of life together in Jesus. At Oikos we think beyond just Sunday Morning worship and to our everyday life.
With God. — We believe life begins with knowing Jesus. We seek to grow in faith through God's Word, prayer, worship, and the Sacraments.
With Each Other. — We weren't created to follow Jesus alone. We are committed to being a welcoming and loving family that encourages, serves, and walks through life together.
With Our Neighbor. — God's love doesn't stop with us. We are sent to love our neighbors, serve our community, and invite others into the hope and new life found in Jesus.
Our Values
Gospel Centered
"For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." — 1 Corinthians 2:2
Everything begins and ends with the death and resurrection of Jesus, the good news that saves us, shapes us, and sends us.
Growing Disciples
"Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ." — Ephesians 4:15
We are committed to continually growing in faith, becoming more like Jesus through God's Word, prayer, and life together.
Prayer Warriors
"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful." — Colossians 4:2
We depend on God in everything, seeking His presence, guidance, and power through persistent prayer.
Everyday Missionaries
“As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” — John 20:21
We believe every follower of Jesus is sent to share His love and good news in everyday life.
Genuine Friends
“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.” — Romans 12:10
We pursue authentic relationships marked by honesty, encouragement, compassion, forgiveness, and love.
Welcoming Family
“Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” — Romans 15:7
We open our lives, our homes, and our church so that every person can experience the welcome, love, and belonging of Christ just as we have.
