Life Together Newsletter

Our mission is to "Grow God's family by bringing Jesus to people" and we do that by living "Life Together: With God. With Each Other. And With Our Neighbor." This newsletter is a way for us to live life together and stay up to date on news, prayer requests, planting updates, and more! Thank you for being a part of our new community here, even those who are supporting us from afar. God's PEACE!

- Pastor Daniel Brummet

A Word from the Word

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” — Matthew 5:14

Jesus begins with “you”—and that “you” is plural. As we Texans would say, it's y’all. He is not speaking only to isolated individuals, but to a people He has gathered together. Then comes the word “are.” Jesus does not say, “Someday, if you work hard enough, you might become”; He declares what He has already made us through His grace. Y’all are a city on a hill. You can't have a city with a population of one. I think it's important to note that Jesus doesn't say, "You are a lighthouse on a hill." A city is people living among other people in community—sharing tables, knowing neighbors, serving one another, and walking through life together. Christ gathers us as His Church and then sends us into our homes, workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods to live with and love the people He has placed around us. And all of it has one purpose: not that people would be impressed with us, but that they would “give glory to your Father who is in heaven”(Matthew 5:16). So look around: Who has God given you to know, welcome, serve, pray with, and love?

One city. One purpose. Glorify the Father.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for calling us out of darkness and gathering us into Your Church through Jesus. Open our eyes to the people You have placed around us. Give us courage to live among them with hospitality, mercy, prayer, and love, so that our life together would point beyond ourselves to You. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Church Plant Updates

1. MOST IMPORTANT: Oikos Essentials #3 — Who Are We?

On September 20, We are gathering for a conversation we’ve intentionally saved until now: What kind of church is Oikos becoming? Put it on your calendar and make plans to be there. This is an important one!

Oikos is something we’re building together under God’s Word—a church family where each of us has a place and a voice. So if you see Oikos Church as your church home, then we really do want you around the table. Come share, listen, dream, and help us discern where God is leading us together.

2. Wednesday in the Word

Pastor Dan has begun a weekly devotion that is posted to our website, sent out through our email, and posted to our facebook. Currently, we are working through Acts 2:42-47. Check out or "Devotions" page to follow along!

Plant With Us!

A child learning to pray. A family finding a church home. A neighbor being cared for. Someone hearing the good news of Jesus when they need it most. This is what Oikos exists to do: Bring Jesus to People by living Life Together: With God. With Each Other. With Our Neighbor.

Your generosity helps make these moments possible. Consider making a gift today and be part of sharing Christ’s love with the people around us.

Give

Our Timeline:

Phase 1: With God - Who has God placed here? What is God doing? Where is God opening doors? How can we get people around God's word and in community with one another?

Phase 2: With Each Other - Bring Life Groups together as one big church and start public worship.

We are here! Now that we have launched life groups, we are having Launch Team Gatherings on Sundays. This will help us grow into the church God wants us to be as we gear up to launching public worship in Feb. 2027.

Phase 3: With Our Neighbor - Emphasize service and outreach to our surrounding community.

Phase 4: Put all three together and charter as an independent congregation.
